Voice AI, in the room
Kairos hosted Cartesia’s Karan Goel and Deborah Lim at Dough for a focused evening with 100 attendees. The event was featured in Singapore on the day, bringing together people working on agents, avatars, call flows and the less obvious experiments around voice.
The programme stayed close to production: live demonstrations, an extended candid Q&A and practical conversations about where real-time voice systems earn their place in a product.
Speed is part of the interaction
Karan spoke about the latency threshold that makes conversation feel continuous. Cartesia’s Sonic-3 delivers 90ms time-to-first-audio, while its Turbo variant reaches 40ms. At that speed, pacing becomes part of the product experience.
He also addressed the questions that matter once a team moves from a demo into deployment: Cartesia is built for speed, with competitive pricing, and its roadmap includes reliable on-device and edge SDKs.
Direct access for builders
The Q&A ran for close to an hour. Builders asked about deployment, use cases and the constraints behind real systems; Karan met the questions directly. Deborah made the evening happen end to end, from venue and food to the details that let the room concentrate on the conversation.
Kairos created the setting for that kind of exchange: people working on the frontier, hearing the trade-offs from the team building the technology and leaving with a clearer sense of what to ship next.
